Use this checklist to stay organized and make your move and settlement process as smooth as possible.

Take care of these important tasks so the closing goes smoothly.

☐ Notify the electric company to shut off service one day after the settlement
☐ Notify water/sewage provider
☐ Notify trash service provider
☐ Notify gas company
☐ Notify landline/cell phone provider
☐ Notify cable/satellite provider
☐ Notify internet provider
☐ Keep homeowner’s insurance in your name until 3 days after settlement
☐ Hire housekeeping services
☐ Hire landscaping services
☐ Ensure the home is clean before the buyer’s walkthrough inspection
☐ File a change of address with the postal service
☐ Notify the DMV of your new address
☐ Update driver’s license information
☐ Update vehicle registration
☐ Update voter registration
☐ Notify the bank of your move
☐ Notify credit card companies of your move
☐ Notify doctors of your new address
☐ Notify dentists of your new address
☐ Notify employer of your new address
☐ Notify schools of your new address
☐ Return borrowed items
☐ Send “Just Moved” cards to family and friends
